Tidying Up

I haven’t been writing as much as I should (if I want to finish up the next book!). But in these interesting times it’s not easy to concentrate. However I did do some tidying up. My desk/worktable has been all strewn with parts since I started writing the Arduino books. Some of them are nicely held in partitioned boxes, but others needed a solution. So I bought 24 drawer parts bin.

This holds everything that isn’t otherwise boxed. Not shown are three shoebox size boxes with larger parts like my remaining 68HCS12 “trainer” boards I used in the classes I used to teach.

It might be an embarrassment of riches. 14 Arduino boards? Maybe 20 servo and stepper motors? That ubiquitous 37 Sensor Kit. And I’ve never really built a single project of all of this, although I do have an Elegoo version 1 robot car that I’ve modified.

No, it’s all there to test things out so that I can write the most accurate books I can. I guess I got my fill designing things and building prototypes at work before I retired. So I am curious about the various parts readily available to experimenters. They aren’t the highest quality, but for the most part they do work and with some care will work better than one might first expect.
