I just realized that I haven’t made a blog entry in a month. I’m just completing the next book on Arduino sensors. Kindle ebook and printed book, same contents, of course.
The ebook is actually ready, but I’m taking a second round trip on the printed book, making it a bit easier to read. Expect an announcement of availability next week. There is a surprising (at least to me) amount of work necessary to get the book ready.
This will be quite an experiment, because the book doesn’t go far inside the Arduino at all. In fact it doesn’t really scratch the surface as it uses only standard Arduino library functions and in some cases libraries available in the library manager in the Arduino IDE. So this book might be considered a prequel to the Far Inside books, however it will be perfectly useful to my current readers if they are confused/mystified/upset by the 37 Sensor kit they bought, or are considering buying one.
Yes, buying one is worth the investment as an educational opportunity. You probably don’t want to buy three of them as I did. I don’t recommend sensor kits with mercury switches because they are environmentally hazardous. The ones that use Grove connectors might be more convenient but I don’t think they are worth the extra cost.
I also don’t recommend sensor kits with gas sensors. I spent 9 years working for a company that sold environmental gas sensors for commercial/industrial use. The ones in the kits are totally inaccurate and shouldn’t be considered for anything other than casual use.
So it looks like availability will be the end of May. And then I’ll be back working on a couple of other titles I had originally planed to do this year, including another Far Inside, this time for the SAMD21 Arduinos.
