A few years ago (I don’t remember exactly when) the US raised the tariff rate on Chinese electronics by a large amount, yet I never saw much or any change in price on Chinese Arduino clone boards.
Until now. Looking at my favorite importer, Elegoo, their prices went up enormously this month. Most other clones jumped in price as well.
Model | Jan 2022 | Feb 2022 |
Elegoo Uno | $15 | $19, (+26%) |
Elegoo Mega | $17.50 black or blue | $21 black or $22 (+26%) blue |
Elegoo Nano 3-pack | $20 | $25 (+25%) |
Other non-microcontroller products did not change price or went up far less.
And, the real surprise, an official Arduino Uno is on sale for $19, the same price as the Elegoo clone. Time to stock up on the real thing?
